Christmas Crafting is in full swing, and we hope you’ve been busy planning your own seasonal decor and crafts! Christmas is such a festive time -- seeing your house transform is always so exciting (no matter your age!!).
One of the traditions we have with our kids is making homemade Christmas ornaments! Some years it's easier than others to come up with ideas on what to make, so this year - we've got you covered ;) We’ve pulled together 5 different ideas for you! They’re easy, require only a few supplies, and are bursting with festive cheer!
Peg People Angel
As if peg people could be any cuter! A peg person angel is next level though ;)
It couldn’t be easier - you can get crafty with your kids on this one, there’s no right or wrong way to do it! Simply take one of our little peg people (painted if you like!) and cut out and glue on some sparkly foam wings! Add a little loop to hang it by and you’re all set! Find all of our Peg People here.
Felt Ball Mini Wreath Ornaments
Our Felt Balls are always a crafting favourite, but especially this time of year. You can make garlands, decorations, accessories - so many fun options! We really liked the idea of making little round wreath ornaments with our felt balls, so we tried two ideas! One round mini wreath of felt balls and Aluminum Beads, and one that mimicked the look of a wreath (complete with bow and jingle bells of course!).
Getting your craft needle through felt balls is always a bit of a challenge, but if you have a set of craft pliers available, it makes tugging and pulling on the needle a ton easier! (We sell these in a handy tool set here!)
Ball of Yarn Ornament
This ornament is perfect for the knitter in your life! It's whimsical, creative and especially easy to make! Check out our step by step instructions below:
Supplies Needed
- One or two types of Jersey Yarn (or any yarn you prefer!)
- One round foam ball (We found ours at our local Michaels)
- Ornament metal topper & loop (you can pull one off another ornament)
- 1 pair of short Knitting Needles
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
- Scissors
Instructions
1. Hot glue your ornament topper to your round foam ball, pushing the metal prongs into the foam ball as well.
2. Glue down the ends of your yarn together. Begin to wrap the yarn around the foam ball, and tack the strings down with hot glue as needed.
3. Once your ball is covered, cut and tuck away the ends.
4. Feed your knitting needles into the loops on the face of the ball and secure them with hot glue if needed.
Wood Star Ornament
If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll know that last Christmas we launched a tutorial on How to Make a 6 Pointed Star, and it was a HUGE hit! So we tried our hand at it again, but instead, added some adorable jingle bells to the points! Follow the link above to the tutorial to make your own!
Felt Ball Bauble Ornament
This may be the most cheerful ornament we’ve ever seen! It’s such a fun design! Simply hot glue the colors of your choice to a foam ball (don’t forget a ribbon to hang it by!) and you’re done! Easy peasy!
